Earth–hand and foot
One Earth Brazil–Germany / Germany–Brazil

Four female artists from Brazil and one artist from Dakar in Senegal are invited to bring colored earth from their regions. Earth in different material and metaphorical qualities is the theme of the summer workshop. The artists use the materiality of the colored earths from different continents in painting and work on aspects of the meaning of the earth as a symbol of life. Brazilian earths, Lietzener field-earth and ground red clay bricks are used in the works.

The communal artistic creations as well as communal life is important for the artistic discourse across national borders and language barriers. In addition to visual artists, musicians, dancers and performers take part in the summer workshop, resulting in several collaborations and dance activities. There are actions with and without audience.
On the opening day, a diverse daily program with readings, performances and music will be performed.
In addition, an artist exchange takes place: Erika Stürmer-Alex is invited to Brazil giving lectures and holding a workshop there. She takes the earth images made in Lietzen with her. An exhibition of these are shown in Paraiba in the Center of Artes Tambiá, João Pessao.

Es werden brasilianische Erden, Lietzener Felderde sowie gemahlene rote Tonziegelsteine in den Arbeiten verwendet. Das gemeinsame Schaffen, Kochen, Feiern und Experimentieren ist wichtig für den künstlerischen Diskurs über Ländergrenzen und Sprachbarrieren hinweg. Neben Bildenden Künstlerinnen nehmen Musikerinnen, Tänzerinnen und Performerinnen an der Sommerwerkstatt teil, es entstehen mehrere Gemeinschaftsarbeiten und Tanzaktionen. Es finden Aktionen mit und ohne Publikum statt. Am Eröffnungstag kommt ein vielfältiges Tagesprogramm mit Lesungen, Performances und Musik zur Aufführung. Außerdem findet ein Künstlerinnenaustausch statt: Erika Stürmer-Alex wird nach Brasilien eingeladen und hält dort einen Vortrag und einen Workshop. Sie kann die in Lietzen entstandenen Erdbilder mitnehmen, so dass unser Verein in ParaÍba im Centre des Artes Tambiá, João Pessao, eine Ausstellung zeigen kann.
